The Engineering For Kids of

New Mexico Learning Center has

New Location

We're excited to be in our new sunny location and are looking forward to seeing all of you when you come to camp.

We are diagonally across the street from the old Learning Center location in our parent company, Sandia Electro-Optics Corporation's building.

For safety and security reasons, we ask that you park on the east side of the building outside the gated area.  We ask that all students enter through the front entrance facing Meanul - just follow the robot footprints up the ramp.  Please remember that an adult is always required to escort students into the building and to sign them in and out for all camps and classes.

Hope to see you soon!

Meet the Owners:

Joyce and Michael J. Cumbo, Ph.D.

Joyce and Mike are the Founders of Sandia Electro-Optics Corporation (, which owns the EFK franchise for all of New Mexico. Joyce earned a BS in Journalism from the University of Maryland and has many years of administrative, customer service, human resources, and other back-end office experience to draw upon in her full time role as the Director of Engineering For Kids of New Mexico.  Mike is a successful high tech executive and serial entrepreneur who has succeeded in large part because of the business opportunities that were opened to him through education in STEM. He earned a B.S. in physics, an M.S. in optical engineering and a Ph.D. in optics from the University of Rochester, and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. "Engineering for Kids is wonderful. Our granddaughter attended one of the workshops on Straw Rockets. She is 4 ½ and she loved it! She is very quiet, but after the class, she came home and wanted to make straw rockets all weekend. She talked nonstop about the teachers and how far her rockets flew. This was a great experience for her! We recommend these classes for all kids and it is fun for the parents (or grandparents) to watch also." - Robert L.
